Evita Bynum

Ph.D., American University, 2000. Dr. Bynum is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology. Her research interests include mental health issues and delinquency among African-American adolescents; social policy analysis, particularly as relates to judicial reform; and the sociology of law.  She is President of The Parlor Network, an evaluation research consulting firm, and has conducted quantitative and qualitative research on and evaluated projects concerning juvenile delinquency; self-concept development; gender equality; socio-historical memory; family welfare; educational development; and international awareness.  She has worked on numerous research projects related to inner-city youth, via grassroots community organizations and juvenile correctional facilities.  Dr. Bynum is a recipient of the Rubin L. Davis Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award (2012) and the Life Pieces To Masterpieces Legacy Award (2006).
